Brian Graham is an intuitive artist - engaged with the physical activity of painting - he allows the potential of both his materials and his inherently experimental processes to play an evolutionary role in his imagery.

In no way bound by traditional practice, he is endlessly fascinated by what can be achieved on a flat surface. The layering of paint and of his own activity glimpsed beneath the final surface, become metaphors for the passage of time, the effects of the elements, and successive levels of meaning.
